History

Clary sage gets its name from the Latin word “clarus,” meaning “clear.” In the Middle Ages, it was referred to as “clear eyes.” At this time, clary sage oil was used for sight, said to have helped with improving strained or tired eyes.

In Germany they refer clary sage seeds as “muscatel sage” due to its effect as a flavour enhancer for muscatel wine. Clary sage would also sometimes replace hops in beer and lead to an enhanced state of intoxication. In the 12th century, it has been reported to have also been used as an aphrodisiac

General

Clary sage may be best known for is help to treat many symptoms associated with the female menstrual cycle. It not only works by regulating the cycle itself but may also be able to help relieve many of the related symptoms such as bloating, cramping, mood swings and the cravings for food.

Has been known to help treat muscular pain and spasms as well as cramping, stomach aches and even headaches during menstruation.

Clary Sage contains plant-based estrogens these give clary sage oil the potential ability to help regulate the levels of estrogen in the body

Clary sage may help reduce cortisol levels and alleviate the feelings of stress and anxiety. It also has a mild euphoric effect that may help ease feelings of anxiety and sadness. On the flip side it also has sedative properties that may help with insomnia.

Blends well with, Black Pepper, Cedarwood, Roman Chamomile, Coriander, Grapefruit, Juniper Berry, Lemon, Lime, Lavender, Bergamot , Sandalwood, Petitgrain

DILUTE TO 5% OR LESS IN A CARRIER OIL BEFORE SKIN APPLICATION. KEEP OUT OF EYES. DO NOT SWALLOW.
