DPG is a cutting agent used to dilute fragrances and essential oils. DPG is most commonly used in making incense. DPG allows the fragrance to bind to the stick or cone and creates a slow burning incense. The ratio used in incense making is 2 parts DPG to 1 part fragrance or essential oil.
Usage
DPG is a highly versatile product is used in a wide range of everyday products from perfumes, skin and hair care products to being used by the entertainment industry as an ingredient in fogging fluids which create artifical smoke.
Its function in the cosmetic and personal care product industry is to decrease the viscosity (thickness) of the liquid.
